Lamp Restoration Project

This cute lamp came from The Clark Barn too! Isn't it amazing!?

Yesterday I began work on it by disassembling the lamp, removing all wiring, and cleaning.

There was a ton of dirt and rust so I had to remove the rust before painting. That was quite the project in itself!

Today I used special primer to stop/prevent rust. And this evening I put the first coat of paint on it. I want it to look similar to how it would have originally looked so I plan to paint the white parts on it an antique shade of white, and the brass parts an antiqued bronze look. The brass is badly rusted so unfortunately I can't just polish and clean it.

I love to paint so that's the easy part. The hard part will be wiring the lamp. I've been reading online and the lamp requires 2 3-way switches. From what I've read it seems pretty complicated... the only thing I've ever done is rewire a normal lamp... Hope I don't screw up.

After the wiring is all done I have to get a glass diffuser for the "Mogul" light bulb, and then a lamp shade.

I hope it is really cool once I am all done! If anyone knows anything about this lamp, or about this type of lamp let me know!

I just finished fixing up this chair today. First I stripped most of the paint off. Then I did a little bit of sanding. Next I had to take the chair apart and then glue and screw it back together. It was quite wobbly before but now people can sit on it. Then I added a coat of the robin egg blue. Last I did a bit of distressing to give it a shabby look. Now I have another cute chair to add to my little collection!

First I fixed up those camp stools and painted them a robin egg blue color then I made new seats for them with fabric from Home Fabrics.

The second project I did was on an old window. Some of the glass had broken in the window so I decided to take the glass out. Then I sanded the window down and gave it a new coat of paint. This paint is a very pale yellow. Next I added some chicken wire, and now using some clips that I also found in the barn I can hang pictures from the chicken wire.

My Grandparents-in-Law, Hal & Marlene Clark, live a couple miles away from us in Rigby. They have an old barn that is full of "junk," so naturally, I wanted to snoop around. Here are a few fun things that I found and fixed up! I have more projects to work on and then I will post more pictures!

4Wheeling

We went 4wheeling with some friends the last 2 weekends, up to Moody Meadows. Lucky for us it didn't rain much the first weekends, but the second weekend was freezing. It was foggy and rainy.... but fun anyhow. Everyone kept getting stuck in the snow, so we spent a good chunk of time getting folks unstuck.

May was pretty busy. Chris graduated from EITC with a computer networking degree. He also turned 25 at the end of the month... my husband is old now!

Travis, David, Chris, and I got stuck babysitting Kameron so we decided to go exploring. First we went for a walk at the green belt, and then we headed out to Ririe. We went to the river and then went for a hike. Kameron had fun throwing rocks and hiking. He did really good on the hike but was really tired by the time we were done.

Last summer (2007) my family went to Mackay to visit the "Mackay Mine Hill Tour." It consists of an easy fourwheeling trail that winds around the mountain so you can see various sites throughout the area. There are signs at each stop to describe the location. So during my previous block of school I had to make a web site for a non profit organization and I chose to do the Mackay Mine Hill Tour, and the Historical Society that takes care of restoration and maintenance. if you want to see it here it is... ashleyb.selfip.com

Kameron

Here's my favorite little nephew ever. My mom and I took pictures of Kameron when he was still really little. This is my favorite out of the bunch. But now I'm gonna be an aunt again in a very short time so we'll get to take lots more fun pictures!!

Kameron is getting so big now and is running all over the place everytime I see him. He's funny and is learning to talk really good. The funniest thing is that he thinks my name is "Bill" instead of Ashley.

Mackay 07

My family headed up to Mackay Idaho to look around the old mining town. The Mackay Mine Hill Tour takes you around the mountain to see old houses, building, kilns, etc. Pretty fun day trip.
